About Tune In & Tune Up

MISSION STATEMENT

TUNE IN & TUNE UP (TI&TU) is a health awareness initiative created by the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame. It is designed to ensure that musicians, industry professionals, and their families have up-to-date information to assist in making well-informed decisions about wellness, health care, and health insurance options.

TUNE IN & TUNE UP strives to partner with professional health care providers who want to reach out to the music community and assist them with improving their health by educating them to lead healthier lifestyles.

Created by Musicians.
For Musicians.

History

TUNE IN & TUNE UP came about because Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame board members, many who are musicians themselves, were fed up with the lack of affordable health care options for the R.I. music community. Of prime concern was how confusing it can be to understand what may be available to musicians as self-employed individuals. A special committee was formed resulting in the TUNE IN & TUNE UP initiative which aims to keep Rhode Island’s music community informed about preventative health care options and other information necessary to make informed health and wellness decisions.

TI&TU Goals

What does TI&TU want to achieve?

TUNE IN & TUNE UP wants to assist musicians, music industry professionals, and their families with:

  • Improving their personal health and living healthier lives.
  • Understanding health information more easily to create better health awareness and understanding of healthcare related matters in order to make informed decisions.
  • Directing individuals to proper support services in times of need or crisis.

How will these goals be achieved?

BY CREATING this website to serve as a clearinghouse for health-related information, focusing on issues geared toward the lifestyle of a music community. As part of this ongoing initiative, TI&TU will gather reliable information from other sources for easy one-stop access to health-related issues. TI&TU will work to support traditional health care options already available while stressing programs that target the health and well-being of musicians and those who work within the industry.

BY FOCUSING on health awareness and preventative actions. Simply put, we want you to become informed and take action BEFORE bad things happen.

BY DEVELOPING TI&TU programs such as health fairs, health-related seminars, fundraising concerts, and more.

BY PARTNERING with health professionals, organizations and doctors throughout Rhode Island to bring expert information and services to our members.
